Canada's Motor City
Oshawa, Ontario
Located on Lake Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario, Oshawa is a dynamic city of 176,000 people with a long and proud history. It is approximately 60 km from downtown Toronto, and is the biggest city in Durham Region.
Formerly a manufacturing powerhouse, Oshawa has rapidly transformed itself in recent years. It is still home to a General Motor’s assembly plant, and takes pride in its history as Canada’s Motor City, but the rapid expansion of post secondary education in the city has revitalized Oshawa. It is now home to three universities and colleges; Ontario Tech University (Ontario’s newest), Trent University’s Durham campus, and Durham College. Oshawa’s relative proximity to Toronto, coupled with improved transportation links, has lead to an influx of commuters from throughout the GTA.

Post Secondary Education
Years ago, Oshawa residents wishing to get a university education had to go to Toronto or beyond for it. Now, the city boasts not one but two universities (Ontario Tech University and Trent University Durham), as well as a top-notch college (Durham College).
